Pass-Through Conveyor Parts Washer

Inline Cleaning Systems designs and manufactures pass-through parts washers for automated industrial cleaning. Our conveyor washers carry parts through spray wash, rinse and drying zones to remove oils, metal chips, dirt and other manufacturing contaminants.

We engineer each industrial conveyor parts washer around your part geometry, production rate, cleanliness requirements and available floor space. Whether you need a modified standard design or a completely custom conveyor parts washing system, Inline can provide a solution from engineering and fabrication through controls, installation and service.

How It Works

How a Pass-Through Conveyor Parts Washer Works

A pass-through parts washer is an industrial cleaning machine that transports components through one or more enclosed process zones on a conveyor. Spray nozzles apply heated cleaning solution to remove manufacturing contaminants. Rinse and drying zones can be added to meet the required finished-part condition.

Optional stages include a halo rinse with DI or RO water for a spot-free finish, and a rust inhibitor can be added to the rinse.

The number and length of zones, conveyor type, conveyor speed, spray pressure, temperature and drying configuration are selected based on the application.

A typical conveyor parts washing system includes:

  1. Part loading and conveyor transport, using a flat belt, powered rollers or specialized fixtures.
  2. Wash zone with spray manifolds and a sump that recirculates the cleaning solution.
  3. Rinse zone to remove residual cleaning solution.
  4. Drying zone using air knives with ambient or heated air.
  5. Part discharge to the next production process.

Conveyor Parts Washing Systems Engineered for Your Application

A Conveyor Washer Built Around Your Parts

Inline begins with the parts and process requirements rather than a one-size-fits-all machine. We can modify an existing design for a budget-conscious solution or develop a custom industrial conveyor parts washer for specialized production requirements.

Conveyor Width and Type

Choose the conveyor width, style and part-handling method based on component size, component geometry, critical cleaning areas and required throughput. Common conveyor widths include 4, 8, 12, 16, 24, 30 and 36 inches, with larger widths up to 96 inches available.

Number and Length of Zones

The number and length of wash, rinse and drying zones are designed to achieve the required cleaning performance and production rate.

Spray Pressure and Coverage

Spray pressure and nozzle placement are designed to remove contaminants from critical surfaces.

Heating and Drying

Wash, rinse and dry temperatures are selected to ensure part cleanliness and dryness. Select electric immersion heating, gas heating or steam heating depending on available utilities and the temperatures required to clean and dry your parts.

Controls and Automation

PLC-based systems with touchscreens and pushbuttons include recipe management, sensors, alarms and production-line integration.

In-House Engineering and Manufacturing

Inline provides engineering, machining, fabrication, assembly and controls integration to develop a complete industrial cleaning system around your requirements.

See Inside Your Parts Washer

ClearView is Inline’s next-generation pass-through conveyor washer design. The system improves visibility and access to the internal process zones, helping operators and maintenance personnel see the cleaning process and reach critical components.

ClearView is patent pending. Contact Inline to discuss availability and configuration for your application.

Visibility Into Every Process Zone

Clear panels provide visibility into the wash, rinse and drying areas and help operators observe cleaning performance. The panels carry a coating on both sides that resists abrasion and chemicals.

Easy Access for Maintenance

The ClearView access system allows panels to slide upward, providing full access to the inside of the washer from both sides without relying on bolt-on panels or bulky removable tops.

Quick Access to Spray Manifolds

Spray manifolds can be removed and nozzles and air knives adjusted without tools, simplifying routine maintenance and cleaning access.

Applications

Applications for Pass-Through Conveyor Parts Washers

Pass-through parts washers are used in high-volume manufacturing where components need to be cleaned as part of a continuous production process.

Machined Parts

Remove machining oils, coolant, chips and debris from CNC-machined components before assembly, coating or additional processing.

Stamped Metal Parts

Clean stamping oils and manufacturing contaminants from metal stampings using controlled conveyor transport and spray cleaning.

For stamping lines we build heavy-duty washers on casters so you can move them between presses.

Gears and Bearings

Configure spray coverage, part orientation and specialized fixturing for industrial components such as gears and bearings with critical surfaces or internal bores.

Hydraulic Components

Clean hydraulic components such as valve bodies, plungers, housings and pistons using custom spray and drying configurations to clean critical surfaces.

Tubes and Cylinders

Engineered specialized systems for cleaning internal bores and external surfaces of long cylindrical components.

Automotive Components

Support automated cleaning applications for automotive components, including machined, stamped and complex parts.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

A pass-through parts washer is an industrial cleaning machine that moves components through enclosed spray, rinse and drying zones on a conveyor. It is used for automated and continuous production cleaning.

A conveyor washer is an industrial parts washing machine that transports parts through one or more cleaning stages using a conveyor. It may include spray washing, rinsing, drying, filtration and automated controls.

The terms often describe the same type of equipment. Pass-through refers to the movement of parts through the machine, while conveyor washer emphasizes the conveyor transport method. Inline uses both terms for automated industrial cleaning systems.

Yes. Inline designs parts washers around the application, including part dimensions, contamination, throughput, conveyor width, wash and rinse zones, filtration, drying and controls.

Conveyor washers can clean many manufactured components, including machined parts, stamped parts, gears, bearings, hydraulic components and other industrial parts. The correct configuration depends on the part geometry, contamination and required cleanliness.

Start with part size and weight, contamination type, production rate, and cleanliness and dryness requirements. Then determine conveyor type, wash stages, spray coverage, filtration, heating, drying and automation needs.

Options include conveyor width and type, zone length and number, spray pressure, additional rinse or coating zones, electric, gas or steam heating, drying systems, and pushbutton or PLC-based controls.

Common widths are 4, 8, 12, 16, 24, 30 and 36 inches, with larger widths up to 96 inches available. Tunnel height is set at least 4 inches above your tallest part.

Single-stage suits parts that can flash dry. Two-stage adds a rinse or a dry. Three-stage wash, rinse and dry suits parts that must be residue-free and fully dry, and a halo rinse adds a spot-free finish.

Yes, when the washer includes a dry zone. We size air knives and heated air to your part geometry and line speed, and can add rust inhibitor in the rinse.

Yes. Parts can be loaded and unloaded by conveyors, robots, pick-and-place units or operators, and we handle the material handling and integration.

Most washers ship within 4 to 8 months of order, with a project schedule provided in your quote.
